About TheBikeRacer.com

Below is the orginal About Us page for TheBikeRacer.com. The website didn't become as popular as I had hoped, so I've revised my goals for the site. I still want to provide the cycling community with a nice, easy to use cycling event/race calendar. The issue I ran into was promotion and editing. I was paying a web designer to do the work and decided that I might as well learn to do it myself. So the new site (I like to call it Version 2) is the result of my work.

I built the new site using the Drupal Content Management System (CMS). The new site is more personal in the sense that I will be blogging on the site. I've added a bike shop to the website. Please feel free to browse the store for anything you are looking for. I am not personally stocking any of the inventory. I am an indenpendent representative for the companies that sale the product. If a visitor purchases something from one of the representated companies, I will receive a small commision from the store. The stores I am respresenting are RealCyclist.com, Huck-n-Roll.com, MountainsPlus.com, ProBoardShop.com, and Bike.com

As always, let me know if you'd like to see anything different added to the site. Heck, let me know what you like and don't like!

Thanks, Mike

PS If you know anyone that needs a site built, point them in my direction, email mike@thebikeracer.com

Welcome to TheBikeRacer.com. My name is Mike Byrd and I created this website for bike racers, cycling enthusiasts, and race directors. I came up with the idea for TheBikeRacer.com this summer (2007) while driving across the country during my move from San Diego, California to Charlotte, North Carolina. I stopped in Louisiana and tried to find a local race. I realized how hard it was for an out of town rider/racer to find local races. It was almost like you had to be a ‘local’ to know what was happening in your area.

There are a couple other similar sites on the Internet. They serve their purpose but I wanted a site that took the best aspects of each website and put it into one website. My goal is to present a complete national race calendar with links to each race, race results and the photographer at the race (provided, of course, a photographer was at the race) in one easy to use, well designed website.

I hope you enjoy your visit to TheBikeRacer.com and it helps you plan your race season. If you are a race director, I hope my site helps you fill your racers and keeps your race sponsors happy. If you have any comments, ideas or even criticism of TheBikeRacer.com, please don’t hesitate to contact me at mike@thebikeracer.com. I want this to be the Number One Race Calendar for years to come.

Sincerely,

Mike Byrd
